Computer Commons moves in 3 days! Closed during move...

We just want to remind you (and please remind your students) that the computer commons will be closed on Monday November 23rd and Tuesday November 24th! Students will need to make other arrangements for computer usage. (The other campus computer labs will be open.) The computer commons will open on Wednesday November 25th in the Amethyst Room, with regular hours (8am - 9pm).

Other reminders...
  • Your course reserves will be NOT available for students during the library's move on November 30th and December 1st. • FREE POSTERS, FREE POSTERS, FREE POSTERS! We have finished going through our posters and we have more than we can handle!! These are art, history, military, science posters that we have accumulated over the years from conventions, conferences, exhibits, etc. Please come, browse, decorate your office!
  • If you have not done so, you have a few more days to come to the library and look over our collection to select items to go with us to the Amethyst Room. Remember, anything we don't take will NOT be available for 6 months! So if there is a special project or special book your students will need, come NOW and select it.

8 Days and Counting Until Library Moves!

In 8 days the Library is moving. The Library will be closed November 30th & December 1st, reopening December 2nd in the Amethyst Room.

We are finalizing our list of items to take. Come and be sure your courses are represented! (We are beginning to feel like Santa - making a list, checking it it twice...)

Faculty checklist...
  • be sure someone from your discipline comes to the library for book selection. It only takes a few minutes of your time to wander in our circulating section and identify books to move with us to the Amethyst Room. Don't wait for someone else to do it. You don't have to be a depart chair. Come down to ensure your course(s) are represented. (Remember, what we don't take goes into storage and is not accessible until we return in June 2010!)
  • schedule your Spring library sessions once you have a date. We will be coming to YOUR class to do the sessions, so less disturbance for you and your students!
Be sure to remind your students that...
  • the Computer Commons will be closed November 23rd -24th, reopening in the Amethyst Room on Wednesday November 25th. They may need to make arrangements to visit other campuses during those two days if they need to work on a paper
  • Computer Commons and Library hours will remain the same: Monday - Friday 8am - 9pm, Friday 8am - 5pm, Saturday 9am - 3pm
  • your course reserves will still be available in the library and then in the Amethyst Room
If you have any questions, please feel free to call us at 206-7267, or feel free to come in.

LIBRARY MOVE BEGINS NOV 30th!

Just 12 days and we begin our move! We will be closed Monday and Tuesday, November 30th and December 1st. We expect to reopen on Wednesday, December 2nd.

(The Computer Commons will move the week before - Monday and Tuesday, November 23 & 24, and reopen on Wednesday, November 25th.)

  • If you haven't visited the library yet to select the items for our core collection, the items we DEFINITELY need to take, please do so ASAP. Our selection needs to finish up soon, so we can amend the catalog to indicate what will be in storage. (Remember: if the items are noted as "Storage", they are unavailable.)
  • Please remind your students to start their research as soon as possible for the largest selection of items.
  • If you want to be sure to receive all of our messages, click on this link Posts (Atom) , then on the new page, click on "Subscribe Now" button.

The Downtown Campus Library is moving! Here is what you need to know...

  • Collection Selection Begins next week! Starting November 2nd, we are inviting faculty to come into the library to look over our items and identify any item we DEFINITELY need to take. As you know the Amethyst Room is much smaller than our current space, so unfortunately, some items will need to be stored. Stored items will NOT be available while we are in the Amethyst Room! Be sure the items your students need next semester is available by coming to the library and selecting items to go with us.
  • We will be closed the week of November 30th while we move. There is a good chance we will be open towards the end of the week. If so, an email will go out announcing we are open.
  • Course Reserves will still be available! If you would like an item on course reserve it is always recommended to do it earlier than later, as the volume gets to the point where we can no longer guarantee a 24 turnaround on having it available to students. Also, if you have VHS tapes on course reserve, we will be contacting you. The Amethyst Room will not have a VHS player and students will have to be accommodated elsewhere.
  • Next semester we will be coming to your classrooms for bibliographic instruction. Schedule your Spring 2010 sessions as soon as you know your dates!
  • Please remind your students of these important dates!
As always, i f you have any questions, please feel free to contact the library at 206-7267 or just stop by!
